Uber has long been pushing beyond the traditional ride from A to B, and its latest move is arguably its most unexpected yet — you’ll soon be able to book a boat trip straight from the Uber app.
The company has teamed up with Click&Boat, Europe’s largest peer-to-peer boat rental platform, to launch a seasonal trial across Mediterranean holiday destinations this summer. The partnership was announced at Uber’s GO-GET 2026 event in New York, where Uber laid out its broader ambitions to become a full-service travel platform rather than just a way to get across town.
How It Works
The integration works as a redirect rather than a fully native booking experience. Users travelling in eligible coastal cities will see a boat icon appear within the Uber app. Tapping it takes them through to Click&Boat’s platform, where they can browse available vessels and complete their booking.
The service runs from mid-June through to October, targeting the peak Mediterranean summer travel season. It’s limited to the “Daily with Skipper” category, meaning customers will be selecting from a curated fleet of around 4,000 boats — all with a professional skipper included, so no boating licence is required.
Pricing displayed in the Uber app is identical to what you’d see directly on Click&Boat, so there’s no hidden premium for booking through Uber.

Where It’s Available
The trial covers more than 20 coastal cities across Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, and Portugal. From Nice to the Côte d’Azur, Marseille to Dubrovnik — the destinations are squarely aimed at tourists seeking something a bit different from the usual beach holiday experience.
Click&Boat has noted that Croatia has become one of the most popular destinations for UK travellers, while Sardinia is also gaining traction — the platform reported a 43.4% increase in UK bookings to Sardinia between 2024 and 2025.
In France specifically, cities including Nice, Cannes, Marseille, Saint-Tropez, Toulon, Annecy, and Paris have been confirmed as launch locations, with a formal start date of 26th June for the Côte d’Azur service.
The Bigger Picture for Uber
This move sits within a clear strategic direction for Uber. The company has already signed agreements with Expedia Group and Accor to integrate accommodation booking into its app. Boats are the latest addition to what Uber wants to be a single digital tool for all your travel needs — whether that’s a ride to the airport, a hotel for the night, or an afternoon on the water.
Clément Désert, a representative from Click&Boat, put it plainly: making boating experiences more accessible to holidaymakers is the goal, and Uber’s reach makes that possible. The stat that stood out: 93% of UK bookings on Click&Boat in the past year were for trips lasting less than a day, which makes the connection to Uber’s on-demand model a very natural one.
Whether this trial eventually makes its way to UK waters remains to be seen — but for anyone heading to the Med this summer, it’s worth checking the Uber app before you book a boat.
