Police Appeal After Man Seriously Injured Jumping from Moving Taxi in Sheffield

South Yorkshire Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a man sustained serious injuries jumping from a moving taxi in Sheffield city centre.

The incident occurred at around 11.32pm on Saturday, 28 December 2024, on Trippet Lane. According to reports, two men exited the vehicle while it was still in motion after the driver allegedly began making threats towards them.

One of the men suffered significant injuries and was rushed to hospital. He has since been discharged. The second individual’s condition has not been detailed.

Despite the incident taking place in late December, South Yorkshire Police only released information on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for the force said:

“Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation. Were you in the area at the time and witnessed the incident?”

Police have not yet released details of the vehicle involved or a description of the driver.

Anyone who may have seen what happened or who has dashcam footage from the area is urged to come forward. Information can be submitted via the South Yorkshire Police online portal at www.southyorkshire.police.uk/ro/report or by calling 101 and quoting investigation number 14/228725/24.
