A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “We are now sharing an image of a man who we believe may be able to assist with our enquiries into the incident. The man we would like to speak to is described as white, between 40 and 45 years old. If you recognise this man or have any information about this incident, then please call us on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44260180066.”

The case is the latest in a string of reported abusive incidents involving taxi and private hire drivers across the UK. Drivers regularly highlight the verbal abuse — and in some cases physical attacks — they face on shift, particularly during late-night runs. Industry bodies have long called for tougher protections, better in-vehicle CCTV coverage and clearer reporting routes for victims.

Anyone with information about the Titchfield incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 44260180066, or report online through the Hampshire Constabulary website.
