700 out of area Wolverhampton private hire drivers gets their license revoked

In the past Wolverhampton council may have struggled to keep on top of their private hire drivers since they live all over the UK, but new figures released by the council show that they are cracking down more and more on unsafe and illegal Wolverhampton cars and drivers.

Taxi Point has revealed: “From 2020 to 2024, Wolverhampton has reported a steady rise in enforcement actions, with the number of suspensions and revocations fluctuating year-on-year. In 2020, the council suspended 1,031 licenses, while 417 licenses were revoked. Moving to 2021, the suspension figure remained similar at 1,028, but revocations dropped to 292. However, 2022 saw a significant increase in both driver’s licenses and enforcement, with 1,554 suspensions and 471 revocations. This rise continued more markedly into 2023, which recorded 2,381 suspensions and 732 revocations. The most recent data for 2024 shows a slight decrease, with 2,055 licenses suspended and 727 revoked.”

The above information shows how much Wolverhampton council is trying to reduce illegal and unsafe Wolverhampton private hire drivers right across the UK.
