Oldham Taxi driver banned and license revoked due to expired DBS certificate

An Oldham private hire taxi driver has been banned from driving and his taxi license was revoked because his DBS certificate expired.

Ibrar Hussain, 32, had his taxi license suspended by Oldham Council after his DBS certificate expired. Hussain continued to work which invalidated his insurance and resulted in a more severe offense.

It gets even worse, Hussain didn’t turn up to his court hearing at Tameside Magistrates’ Court on 19 September, where he was found guilty in his absence of driving without insurance and a valid private hire licence. He received a two-year driving ban.

Following the conviction Oldham Council revoked his license and the court fined him £4,671.

Councillor Elaine Taylor, Deputy Leader of Oldham Council and the cabinet member responsible for Licensing said: “In general, taxi standards in Oldham are very good.

“However, where breaches do occur, the penalty imposed in this case by the court shows that this sort of behavior will be taken seriously, and the consequences can be severe.”

DBS Expiring is a bad thing, what followed resulted in a lot worse. The smaller things can always roll up into something more severe. If your DBS expires stop driving right away and get it sorted asap.
