A 19-year-old man has been charged with a string of offences after allegedly stealing a taxi in the early hours of Sunday, 8 June, in Birmingham.
The incident occurred shortly after 2am on Bromford Lane in Hodge Hill, where a taxi driver was reportedly threatened by a passenger who then made off with the vehicle.
West Midlands Police were quick to respond to the incident, deploying officers including members of the force’s dog unit to track down the suspect.
The teenager, identified as Alfie Mooney, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, failure to stop, and drink driving.
Mooney is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 June.
