Swale Borough Council’s revised maximum hackney carriage fares are scheduled to come into operation today, Friday 4 September 2026, after the consultation and objection period closed on Thursday 3 September.
The variation applies to maximum mileage fares for hackney carriages hired by time and distance. The proposed tariff includes an initial charge of £3.80 and a maximum fare of £8.70 for a two-mile journey.
Implementation is conditional on there being no unresolved objections to the variation. The council has said that, if an objection remains unresolved, a further implementation date will be set no later than 4 November 2026.
