Rainbow City Taxis has pledged £30,000 to Aberdeen Arts Centre through a three-year partnership supporting the venue’s Save Aberdeen Arts Centre campaign.
The independent city-centre venue says the funding is intended to help it continue backing grassroots arts and touring productions. It also says the commitment will support creative-learning opportunities and its artist-development programme.
Aberdeen Arts Centre, at 33 King Street, is operated by the charity Castlegate Arts Ltd. The venue has a 350-seat auditorium as well as performance, event and learning spaces.
The centre launched its survival campaign in May 2025 with a target of raising £660,000 over three years. When it announced the Rainbow City Taxis commitment, the centre said it had raised more than £279,000 towards that target.
As well as the financial pledge, the partnership includes an aim to make taxi journeys to and from the venue easier for audiences. The centre advises passengers using taxis to use its Queen Street entrance for drop-offs.

Rainbow City Taxis Limited is listed as active by Companies House, which records its SIC activity as taxi operation. The company was incorporated on 7 February 2001.
The arrangement is a charitable and commercial partnership connected with the arts centre’s fundraising and audience access plans. It is not a change to taxi licensing rules, fare policy or council transport arrangements.
For the arts centre, the pledge adds a further commitment towards its three-year fundraising goal while linking the venue with a taxi operator. The venue says the campaign is focused on securing its ability to continue providing its arts, learning and development activity.
The partnership’s travel element is directed at audiences travelling to and from the King Street venue, with the Queen Street entrance identified by the centre as the taxi drop-off point. Further operational details of how taxi travel will be made easier were not set out in the announced facts.
