Drivers dropping passengers directly outside Birmingham Airport’s terminal are paying more from this month, after the airport confirmed a £1 increase to its Premium Set Down and Drop Off Car Park tariffs.
The change took effect at 9am on 6 August 2026. Premium Set Down — the car park sitting right outside the terminal doors — now costs £8 for the first 15 minutes, up from £7. Charges continue to escalate steeply beyond that: £13 for 15–20 minutes, rising to £25 by the 30-minute mark and £61 for a full hour, with each additional 15 minutes thereafter adding a further £8.
The airport’s Drop Off Car Park, a short walk from the terminal, still offers the first 10 minutes free — a detail Birmingham continues to hold onto as one of the more generous free windows among major UK airports. Beyond that, the new tariff structure now charges £7 for 10–15 minutes and £8 for 15–20 minutes, with the same steep escalation pattern for longer stays.
This is the second increase at Birmingham this year. The Premium Set Down charge rose from £6 to £7 back in April, meaning the cost of a quick kerbside drop-off has now gone up by a third in under five months.
The rise fits a wider pattern across UK airports in 2026, with several major hubs pushing up “kiss-and-fly” charges over the past year. London City Airport, which previously offered free drop-offs entirely, has since introduced an £8 charge of its own, while Stansted and Gatwick remain among the most expensive for close-terminal drop-offs.
