Mid-Air Brawl Forces Liverpool-Bound EasyJet Flight To Turn Back To Tenerife

An easyJet flight bound for Liverpool was forced to turn back to Tenerife on Tuesday evening after a mass brawl broke out on board roughly 30 minutes into the journey.

Flight EZY3352, carrying 186 passengers, was heading from Tenerife South to John Lennon Airport when a fight involving around ten passengers erupted in the cabin. According to air traffic control, the crew informed controllers they needed to return to the airport and requested police presence on arrival, with the captain citing the danger the altercation posed to flight safety. Officers were waiting on the tarmac when the aircraft landed, and the flight later continued on to Liverpool.

The Civil Guard confirmed all those involved were British nationals, with eight people removed from the plane — two adults and six minors — who had been travelling together as two families. A row that started in the terminal before boarding reportedly carried on once the group were in their seats.

EasyJet said it did not tolerate disruptive behaviour towards staff, adding that the safety and wellbeing of customers and crew remained its highest priority. The incident comes as the Department for Transport and Home Office reportedly look at proposals that would let airlines share information on disruptive passengers, potentially banning unruly flyers from travelling with any carrier rather than just the one involved.
