British Transport Police have released a CCTV image as part of their investigation into the assault of a taxi driver outside Farnham railway station in Surrey.
The incident happened at around 4.45pm on Friday 22 May, after the driver dropped four men off outside the station. As the group left the taxi, one of the men allegedly assaulted the driver before running off towards Farnham town centre.
Investigating officers have now issued an image of a man they’d like to identify, saying he may have information that could help their enquiries. Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 533 of 22 May. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
It’s the second Farnham incident affecting the taxi trade in recent months — DM News previously reported on a separate town-centre affray in May, in which a taxi was stolen from a rank near Castle Street and later recovered damaged. Together, they’re an uncomfortable reminder of the risks drivers can face simply doing their job.
