Kia EV2 Now Qualifies For Full £3,750 Electric Car Grant

Kia’s smallest and most affordable electric model, the EV2, has become the latest car to qualify for the UK government’s maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant.

The Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S versions of the EV2 Long Range are now all eligible for the full Band 1 grant, provided they’re fitted with the 61.0kWh Long Range battery. That brings the entry-level Air Long Range down to £24,245 on the road, with the GT-Line now starting from £28,995 and the range-topping GT-Line S from £32,595. Long Range models offer up to 275 miles of range on a single charge, with fast charging of up to 118kW allowing a 10-80% top-up in around half an hour.

The EV2 First Edition, which uses a smaller 42.2kWh battery good for around 196 miles of range, continues to qualify for the lower £1,500 Band 2 grant, keeping its on-the-road price at £26,995.

The government’s Electric Car Grant scheme launched in July 2025, offering discounts of £1,500 or £3,750 depending on how a vehicle scores against sustainability criteria including renewable energy use and verified low-carbon production. The discount is applied automatically at the point of sale, with no separate application needed. The EV2 becomes Kia’s second model, after the EV4, to secure the top-tier grant, with Kia now one of only a handful of manufacturers offering models eligible for the maximum incentive.

For drivers considering the switch to electric — including those looking at private hire or taxi work — the EV2’s combination of grant-assisted pricing, competitive range and Kia’s seven-year warranty makes it one of the more compelling options currently available in the compact EV class.
