Škoda Epiq — Production Starts on the Brand’s Most Affordable Electric Car

Škoda has officially begun series production of the Epiq — its smallest and most affordable electric car to date — and the UK now has full pricing confirmed ahead of orders opening this summer.

Production is underway at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Pamplona, Spain, making the Epiq the first Škoda model ever to be built in Spain and the first to use Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ platform. It sits alongside the Cupra Raval and the Volkswagen ID.Cross, which are also assembled at the same Spanish facility.

For UK buyers, the Epiq opens at £24,950 OTR — matching the price of Škoda’s petrol-powered Kamiq and making it the most competitively priced electric model in the brand’s range. That price parity between an electric and petrol equivalent is a significant moment, and the kind of thing the industry has been working towards for years. UK order books open in July 2026.

Two battery options are available. The Epiq 40 uses a 37kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a WLTP range of around 190 miles, while the Epiq 55 steps up to a 52kWh NMC battery good for up to 272 miles. The 55 supports DC fast charging at up to 105kW, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in under 25 minutes. The car also supports bidirectional charging, meaning it can feed electricity back into your home — handy for drivers looking to offset running costs.

At just over 4.1 metres long, the Epiq is smaller than the Kamiq and positioned against rivals like the Renault 4 E-Tech and Ford Puma Gen-E. It’s compact but comes with a 475-litre boot, which is genuinely practical for a car of this size.

The Epiq is also expected to qualify for the government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant, though Škoda has said that’s still to be confirmed officially. If it does, that would bring the entry price down to around £23,450 — a real statement of intent for affordable EVs in the UK.
