Manchester Airport has informed concession scheme users that all Terminal 2 passenger drop-offs must move to the Lower T2 Drop-Off Forecourt (Ground Floor) from Monday 17 November 2025, according to an official email sent directly to registered concession account holders.
In the message, the airport states that concession discounts will no longer be applied at the T2 Upper Forecourt after 18:00 on Monday 17 November. From that point onwards, only the Lower T2 Drop-Off Forecourt will qualify for reduced concession rates.
The airport added that the change is being introduced “to support increased volume of traffic in the T2 areas.”
The email also highlights a 2.0m height restriction at the lower forecourt, meaning taller vehicles — including many 7–8 seaters, minibuses and some executive MPVs — must instead use the T2 Over Height Car Park.

DM News Commentary
This update is likely to affect private hire and taxi drivers the most, especially those working larger vehicles used for family groups, business clients, and airport-transfer services.
For many drivers, the upper forecourt has always been the quickest way to drop off, allowing fast terminal access and efficient turnaround. Moving concession users downstairs could add extra time during peak traffic, particularly during early morning holiday departures when congestion is already heavy.
The height restriction will also create issues for XL and minibus operators. These drivers will now need to divert into the Over Height Car Park — adding extra walking distance for passengers, which may frustrate families with luggage or those on tight schedules.
It’s clear Manchester Airport is continuing its wider programme of traffic management changes around Terminal 2 as part of its ongoing redevelopment. Drivers should allow extra time for T2 drop-offs over the coming weeks, especially if they operate larger vehicles.
DM News will continue to monitor any further operational updates from Manchester Airport as they develop.
