Police have arrested two men and seized a significant haul of drugs and cash after stopping a vehicle falsely posing as a private hire taxi in Maghull.
Vehicle Stopped in Maghull
At around 8.30pm on Wednesday 3 September, officers intercepted a blue BMW on Deyes Lane which was displaying a taxi licence plate.
A search of the vehicle uncovered three bags of white powder, believed to be cocaine, along with £1,000 in cash.
The driver, a 31-year-old man from West Derby, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property. He was taken into custody for questioning.

Further Arrest in Walton
Later the same evening, officers attended an address on Appleton Road, Walton. A man was seen leaving the property carrying a large bag before driving off in a van.
When stopped by patrols, the bag was found to contain a safe holding 20 bags of white powder, a Rolex watch, and bundles of cash and coins worth thousands of pounds.
The 42-year-old driver, from Melling, was detained and arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs (MDMA) and acquiring, using or possessing criminal property.
Both men have since been released under investigation.
Police Statement
Inspector Ian Cowell described the arrests as a key part of an ongoing operation:
“These arrests form part of an extensive ongoing investigation, and our enquiries will continue into the suspects and their alleged activities.
Our work to reduce the harm caused by drug supply in Merseyside continues every single day. People involved in organised crime destroy communities and the lives of vulnerable drug users as well as those they coerce into dealing for them.
Every seizure, arrest, charge and conviction we make disrupts their networks, and I ask that anyone with information about this kind of activity comes forward so we can find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
Safer Streets Summer Campaign
The arrests took place as part of wider enforcement activity under the Safer Streets Summer initiative, which continues throughout September across Merseyside.
The campaign includes enhanced high-visibility patrols in hotspot areas to tackle serious violence, anti-social behaviour, theft and robbery. It also supports the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee, which pledges dedicated police teams for every community, with guaranteed patrols in town centres and hotspot areas at peak times.
