£260,000 Ferrari Wrecked After Driver Loses Control on Wet M602 in Salford

A Ferrari supercar worth as much as £260,000 has been left badly wrecked after its driver lost control on the M602 in Greater Manchester.

The crash happened on the motorway through Salford near Eccles on Sunday, 30 August, as heavy rain affected roads across the region.

Greater Manchester Police said the driver of the red Ferrari 296 lost control in wet conditions.

Despite the extensive damage to the high-performance car, police confirmed that nobody was injured.

An image released by Greater Manchester Police’s traffic unit showed severe damage to the front of the Ferrari.

Parts of the front bodywork had been torn away, with one wheel visibly twisted and substantial damage around the front suspension and bonnet.

The Ferrari 296 is one of the manufacturer’s high-performance sports cars and examples can cost around £260,000 depending on specification.

Greater Manchester Police used the aftermath of the collision to issue a warning to other motorists about driving appropriately when roads are wet.

Heavy rainfall can significantly reduce tyre grip and visibility while also increasing stopping distances, particularly where standing water develops on motorway surfaces.

The incident comes as officers continue to urge motorists to reduce their speed and leave additional stopping distance when travelling during periods of heavy rain.

Drivers encountering standing water are particularly advised to avoid sudden steering or braking inputs, which can increase the risk of losing control.

While the Ferrari suffered substantial damage, Greater Manchester Police stressed that the most important outcome was that the crash did not result in injuries.
