SEAT S.A. has confirmed that a gradual phase-out of the SEAT brand beyond 2030 is among the options being assessed, but said no final decision has been taken and its planned model launches remain on track.
In a statement issued on 4 September responding to speculation about the marque’s future, the company said SEAT remains an important part of its business, with a product roadmap covering the coming years.
That programme still includes mild-hybrid versions of the SEAT Ibiza and Arona, scheduled for 2027. The uncertainty concerns the brand’s direction beyond its current product cycle, rather than a decision to cancel those launches.
Current plans remain in place
The company’s clarification separates its existing product commitments from the longer-term assessment. Several scenarios remain open, with a gradual withdrawal beyond 2030 identified as one possibility rather than an agreed outcome.
The statement therefore does not set a confirmed retirement date for SEAT. It also stops short of committing the brand to a particular direction after the current product cycle.

CUPRA drives growth
Alongside the clarification on SEAT, the company described CUPRA as its key growth driver. CUPRA has delivered more than one million vehicles since its launch in 2018.
SEAT S.A. also said it is leading the industrialisation of Volkswagen Group’s MEB21 platform and Electric Urban Car Family at Martorell. That industrial role sits alongside the company’s assessment of the SEAT marque’s longer-term position.
The distinction between SEAT S.A.’s wider business and the future of the SEAT brand is central to the announcement: CUPRA’s growth and the group’s industrial programme are continuing while the marque’s next chapter remains unresolved.
For now, the confirmed product news is unchanged: mild-hybrid Ibiza and Arona models are planned for 2027, while any SEAT phase-out beyond 2030 remains a scenario, not a decision.
