JLR has revealed the Defender Wolf Series II and established a new Defender Defence Division as it prepares to compete for the Ministry of Defence’s Light Mobility Vehicle tender.
The announcement on 4 September sets out the manufacturer’s intended participation in the procurement process. It is a vehicle reveal and a statement of bidding intentions, not the award of a military contract.
The Wolf Series II uses Defender’s D7x monocoque architecture. JLR says the vehicle was designed and engineered in the UK, with its engine built in Wolverhampton.
Alongside the vehicle, the company has created a Defender Defence Division to support engagement with defence organisations. The new division and planned tender participation form part of the same announcement.

Four variants due at Millbrook
JLR plans to display four variants at the DVD event at Millbrook on 16–17 September. That exhibition is the next scheduled public presentation identified in the announcement, separate from the Ministry of Defence procurement process.
The forthcoming display will therefore concern the vehicle range JLR intends to present, rather than vehicles confirmed for a Ministry of Defence order. The position announced so far is that JLR intends to compete for the Light Mobility Vehicle tender; any eventual contract decision remains distinct from this launch.
