Glasgow taxi driver refused licence renewal after child assault conviction

Glasgow’s licensing committee has refused Mohammad Anwar’s application to renew his taxi-driver licence after Police Scotland objected over his conviction for assaulting a child.

The committee heard that Anwar had been convicted of two assault charges in February 2025. The conviction resulted in 70 hours of unpaid work.

During the licensing hearing, the committee was told that a child had been kicked and had liquid thrown at them. Anwar admitted losing his temper.
