Exeter Crown Court has made a £63,790 confiscation order against Exeter taxi driver Murat Dogantekin following an Insolvency Service investigation into two Bounce Back Loans obtained in 2020.
The order was made on Tuesday 8 September 2026 and reflects assets identified by the Insolvency Service’s financial investigators as available for recovery. Dogantekin, 52, of Mulligan Drive, Exeter, has been given three months to pay.
The Insolvency Service said that if he does not pay, he could face a further five years in prison, while the debt would remain payable.
Dogantekin was sentenced at Exeter Crown Court to two years and seven months’ imprisonment in February 2025. His conviction followed an investigation into two £50,000 Bounce Back Loans obtained from separate banks in May and June 2020.

According to the Insolvency Service, Dogantekin inflated the turnover of his taxi business by more than £350,000 in the loan applications. The applications gave annual turnover figures of £200,000 and £205,000 for two self-employed taxi businesses, while he had declared earnings of £16,500 for the tax year ending in April 2020.
The agency said the combined applications overstated turnover by £388,500. On an accurate declaration, it said he could have been entitled to one loan of £4,125, meaning he received an additional £95,875.
Financial investigators identified £48,000 of loan money used to buy a two-bedroom flat in Turkey. The Insolvency Service said further funds were spent on a 2017 Peugeot costing £2,840 and a pizza oven costing £800. No repayments were made before Dogantekin was declared bankrupt in November 2021.
The agency also said the claimed second taxi business traded as Ola Taxis but was named after one of his clients. It said Dogantekin ignored 11 attempts over six months to obtain specified records and did not attend an interview under caution.
