EV Drivers Offered Monthly Payments Under New Great Britain Smart-Charging Programme

EV drivers in Great Britain can now earn payments for eligible smart charging under a new programme launched by ev.energy on 3 September 2026.

Charge & Earn allows drivers to join through the ev.energy app by connecting a vehicle or charger. Participants are paid for each eligible smart charge completed through the programme.

ev.energy says more than 10,000 flexible assets were already enrolled when Charge & Earn went live. The company says participants currently average about £25 a month when completing five eligible charges per week.

The programme is designed to enable enrolled vehicles and chargers to take part in flexible smart-charging activity. Drivers join by linking their compatible vehicle or charger in the app, drivers can check their eligibility through the Charge & Earn website, with participation requiring a compatible vehicle or charger that can connect through the ev.energy platform..

Alongside the driver offer, ev.energy has opened a separate Charge & Earn Network for retailers, fleets and charge point operators. The network gives those organisations a route to enrol users in the programme.

The launch gives EV drivers a payment-based incentive to use smart charging, while creating an enrolment option for businesses managing fleets or charging customers. The company’s reported participation figures indicate that more than 10,000 flexible assets were included at launch.

Drivers and operators considering the programme will need to use the ev.energy app and connect a vehicle or charger before taking part. Payments are linked to eligible smart charges rather than being described as a fixed general payment for EV ownership.
