East Herts hackney carriage and private-hire policy changes set for December decision

East Herts Council’s proposed revised hackney-carriage and private-hire policies are due to proceed to the Executive on 6 October 2026, ahead of a final Council decision scheduled for 9 December.

The proposals are not yet adopted and do not represent an in-force change to the council’s licensing policies.

According to the council’s record, its portfolio holder approved suggested policy amendments before the consultation process took place.

Responses to that consultation were considered by the Licensing Committee on 9 September 2026, when recommendations were made on the proposed revised policies.

The next listed stage is consideration by the Executive in October. The matter is then scheduled to return for final determination by the Council in December.

The policy item is listed by East Herts as affecting all wards. The council first published its forward-plan entry for the matter on 3 July 2026.
