Acorn Insurance has opened nominations for its 2026 Taxi Hero Award, inviting entries for taxi and private-hire drivers, professional drivers and people supporting the taxi industry.
The nomination process opened on 8 September and is due to close at midnight on 4 October 2026. The overall winner is scheduled to receive a Britain’s Taxi Hero trophy and a £1,000 Amazon gift card.
Acorn says regional winners may also be selected. The published terms list £100 Amazon gift cards for regional winners.
The award is intended to recognise exceptional kindness, bravery, customer service and community support. The promoter says its judging panel will consider a nominee’s community impact, whether they went beyond normal expectations, courage and compassion, the evidence and credibility of the entry, and consistency with the award’s purpose.
Taxi and private hire operators can find booking and dispatch tools from DM Taxi Assistant.
Nominees must be aged 18 or over and based in England, Scotland or Wales. Drivers do not need to be Acorn Insurance customers to be nominated.
Nominations can be submitted by members of the public, passengers, Acorn customers and employees, as well as by eligible nominees themselves. Entries should provide information about the nominee and the circumstances supporting the nomination, with supporting material requested where appropriate.
Shortlisted nominees may be contacted for more information before judging is completed. Acorn’s terms also allow it to check nomination information with nominators, nominees, witnesses, employers, operators and other relevant organisations.
The promoter may reject or remove an entry if information is false, incomplete or misleading. It may also do so where active criminal, civil, regulatory or insurance investigations create concerns.
The competition is run by Acorn Insurance and Financial Services, named as the promoter in the published terms.
