Uber has unveiled a significant update to its Destination Mode feature, now offering drivers greater flexibility with how they navigate towards their chosen destinations while continuing to earn. The change introduces two distinct route options—“Faster” and “Flexible”—aimed at improving the experience for both drivers and passengers.

What’s New?
Under the revamped Destination Mode, drivers can now choose between:
- Faster Route: Designed to get the driver to their destination more quickly, this option may result in fewer ride requests along the way due to the prioritisation of speed.
- Flexible Route: This offers a more meandering path, increasing the likelihood of picking up rides en route, although it may take longer to reach the destination.
This feature continues to allow up to two uses per day, giving drivers the freedom to align their work with personal commitments or preferred end-of-day locations.
Important Considerations
Uber has clarified that the success of using Destination Mode depends on driver reliability. If drivers decline or cancel too many trip requests while in Destination Mode, it may end that particular session and count as one of the two daily uses. The limits are:
- For Faster Route: Stay below 3 total cancellations or declines
- For Flexible Route: Stay below 4 total cancellations or declines
However, cancellations due to rider no-shows or other issues beyond the driver’s control will not be counted towards these limits.
This update aims to offer more customisable driving options while maintaining service reliability across the platform.
