Uber to Change How Driver Acceptance and Cancellation Rates Are Calculated from April 14th

Uber has announced a significant update to how it calculates acceptance and cancellation rates for drivers in the UK, with the changes set to take effect from Monday, 14 April 2025. The move marks a shift from the current 30-day average system to a more immediate metric, based on drivers’ most recent 100 trip requests.

🔄 What’s Changing?

Currently, Uber calculates a driver’s acceptance and cancellation rates based on averages over the past 30 days. From April 14th, this will change to a rolling window of the last 100 trip requests received.

  • Cancellation Rate: Will be calculated as the percentage of trip requests cancelled out of the last 100 trip requests accepted.
  • Acceptance Rate: Will be based on the number of exclusive trip requests accepted out of the last 100 received. This includes forward dispatches, but excludes Trip Radar requests.

Uber says this update will make it easier for drivers to improve their stats more quickly, as rates will now reflect more recent performance.

🥇 Impact on Uber Pro Status

Uber has confirmed that the change in cancellation rate definitions will affect drivers’ eligibility for Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Uber Pro tiers. However, to ease the transition, Uber is delaying any changes to drivers’ current Pro status until Monday, 12 May 2025.

From that date forward, drivers will need to meet the new cancellation rate criteria—calculated from their most recent 100 trips—in order to retain or upgrade their Uber Pro tier.

📊 Key Points Drivers Need to Know

  • New metrics reflect the last 100 trip requests, not the last 30 days.
  • Trip Radar requests do not count toward the acceptance rate.
  • Cancelling a Trip Radar job after accepting it will count against your cancellation rate.
  • Uber Pro status will not change until 12 May 2025, even if rates shift before then.
  • Star ratings remain unaffected by these changes.
