Reform UK Reported to Police Over Alleged Secret Foreign-Funded Polling

Reform UK has been reported to the Metropolitan Police and Electoral Commission after undercover footage appeared to show senior party figures discussing polling funded through a US company and a potential foreign donation.

Channel 4 broadcast the investigation on 3 September. It reported that the footage involved Nigel Farage and other senior Reform figures, and concerned three polls allegedly paid for through a US company. The reported expenditure totalled £32,500.

The Liberal Democrats subsequently reported the matter to both the Metropolitan Police and the Electoral Commission. The police said they were aware of the reporting and would assess the information provided.

The Electoral Commission said attempts to evade donation controls were a matter for police consideration. The comments do not represent a finding that Reform UK or any individual has broken the law.

Reform UK denied wrongdoing and described the investigation as a hoax. No charge, arrest or conviction has been reported in the supplied accounts.

The complaints create a new stage in the dispute: the allegations have moved from undercover recordings and political reporting to formal referrals for assessment by law-enforcement and electoral authorities.
