Hyundai Opens IONIQ 3 Reservations in the UK, Prices Start From £22,245

Hyundai has opened UK reservations for its new IONIQ 3 compact electric hatchback, with on-the-road prices starting at £22,245 and an expected range of up to 308 miles from the larger of two available battery options.

The IONIQ 3 is offered across four trim levels — Advance, Premium, Ultimate and the range-topping N Line Evo, which tops out at £31,945. Entry-level cars come with a 42.2kWh battery giving an expected 213 miles of range, while the 61kWh pack fitted to the rest of the range stretches that to as much as 308 miles on the Advance trim, dropping to 265 miles on the sportier N Line Evo. Both battery sizes support DC rapid charging up to 119kW, with a 10-80% top-up quoted at around 30 minutes.

Notably, the IONIQ 3 marks the European debut of Hyundai’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system, an Android Automotive OS-based setup available with either a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch display, with satellite navigation reserved for the higher Ultimate and N Line Evo trims. The car also brings a Memory Reverse Assist feature on N Line Evo models, which remembers the last 50 metres of driving inputs to help with repeated manoeuvres such as reversing into a tight space.

Built on Hyundai’s 400-volt E-GMP platform and sharing underpinnings with the Kia EV2, the IONIQ 3 sits in the B-segment but is designed to punch above its footprint on interior space, with Hyundai citing a floating centre console, adjustable cup holders and 441 litres of boot capacity. Standard safety kit across the range includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist and Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist.

Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, said the IONIQ name was already “one of the most recognised and trusted among EV buyers,” and that the IONIQ 3 takes that reputation “into a new space with a model that delivers genuine EV innovation at a price point that makes electric mobility attainable for even more households.”

At under £22,500 on the road for the entry model, the IONIQ 3 lands as one of the more affordable full battery-electric options on the UK market, putting real pressure on rivals in the increasingly competitive compact EV segment — a segment that’s becoming central to whether mainstream buyers actually make the switch to electric.
