A few drivers have been in contact with DM News regarding this matter, Uber pricing goes up and down due to dynamic pricing and surge but some drivers noticed a charge on the jobs stating “Drivers Event Surcharge” in this example it was £0.50. The driver in question contacted Uber and they replied the following:
“We added a fixed-amount event surcharge to every trip taken during New Year’s Eve (31st December 2024) to address peak demand. This applied to trips between 10 pm and 8 am in London and 10 pm to 6 am in the rest of the UK. Riders paid for this surcharge and would have been included in each upfront price on your offer card.”
