Uber Driver’s Car Attacked in Henley By Half Naked Man After Refusing Fare

An Uber driver in Henley-on-Thames (Near Reading) was left shaken after his vehicle was attacked by a man in a bizarre outburst of anger late on Thursday night.

The incident happened at around 10.40pm on 10 July outside the Catherine Wheel pub on Hart Street, when a man booked an Uber but was refused service by the driver. The driver, operating a black Kia, declined to take the fare — reportedly leading the would-be passenger to punch and kick the vehicle in frustration, causing visible damage before walking off.

Thames Valley Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and any available footage from the scene.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 30 years old, and notably was only wearing boxer shorts and shoes at the time of the incident.

Sergeant Steve Kelly from the Assessment and Investigation Unit said:

“The victim in this case was an Uber driver, who declined the fare. After he did so, the offender took out his anger on the vehicle, causing some damage to the car.

I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this incident, or who may have dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage, to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 43250347153, or submit details through the Thames Valley Police website. Those wishing to remain anonymous can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
