Wolverhampton and Dudley Councils Join Forces in Major Taxi Compliance Operation

A major taxi and private hire compliance operation has been carried out by Wolverhampton Council in partnership with Dudley Council, DVSA, West Midlands Police, and the Chair of Wolverhampton Council’s Licensing Committee alongside her colleagues.

The joint initiative saw a high number of private hire vehicles stopped and inspected to ensure they met strict safety and licensing standards. Officers carried out detailed checks on vehicle condition, documentation, and driver compliance.

Authorities said the operation was aimed at improving passenger safety and tackling rogue operators who put the travelling public at risk.

The partnership approach highlights growing cooperation between councils and enforcement bodies across the West Midlands to raise standards in the taxi and private hire trade.

With cross-border licensing and compliance a continuing concern, the presence of Wolverhampton’s licensing leadership underlined the council’s commitment to ensuring its high-profile licensing system remains robust.

Local enforcement teams confirmed that further spot checks and joint operations will take place in the months ahead.
