Uber has launched a new feature called Advantage Mode, a programme designed to reward top-performing drivers with exclusive perks and higher earnings. The initiative aims to improve the experience for both drivers and riders by recognising and incentivising quality service. Currently on in the USA but it could expand in the future and possibly in the UK but doubtful due to the UK Laws like the Equality Act 2010.

What Is Advantage Mode?
Advantage Mode is an elevated driver experience that offers a 5% earnings boost on UberX and other non-premium trips, along with priority ride requests — particularly in high-demand areas like airports. The feature is being rolled out as part of Uber’s broader push to encourage professional, safe, and reliable driving across the platform.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for Advantage Mode, drivers must meet and maintain the following criteria:
- Acceptance rate: 25% or higher
- Cancellation rate: 8% or lower
- Star rating: 4.85 or above
- Driving Insights score: 75 or higher
Drivers who meet these benchmarks are automatically placed into Advantage Mode. Those who fall short remain in Standard Mode, which does not include the bonus features.
What Are the Benefits?
Drivers in Advantage Mode receive several advantages designed to enhance their earning potential and ride experience:
- A 5% bonus on eligible trips
- Access to more exclusive and direct ride requests
- Airport trip priority, including earlier matches in Trip Radar queues
These benefits can add up quickly, especially for drivers who frequently operate in high-traffic areas or around airports.
Driving Insights Tool
To support drivers in achieving and maintaining eligibility, Uber has partnered with Cambridge Mobile Telematics to introduce a new Driving Insights dashboard. This tool provides real-time feedback on key driving behaviours such as speeding, harsh braking, and phone usage, helping drivers improve safety and performance.
Positive Driver Feedback
Early feedback from drivers involved in the programme has been promising. Many report noticeable improvements in both earnings and ride frequency. One driver commented, “Having Advantage Mode seems to have increased the number of exclusive rides, and the additional earnings add up over time.” Another said, “The bonus pay applied to each trip allows me to maximise my time earning on the platform.”
Where Is It Available?
Uber Advantage Mode is currently available in select U.S. cities, including Austin, Miami, and Phoenix, with plans for a wider rollout in the near future.
