A man was discovered unconscious and “covered in blood” in Warrington following a serious assault late on Friday night (12 September).
The victim and a friend had been walking along Old Chester Road towards the town centre at around 11pm, intending to get a taxi home, when they became involved in a verbal dispute with two unknown men.
The victim’s friend later left, and the man sat on a nearby wall. Police believe the same two men then returned, leading to a violent altercation which left the victim knocked unconscious.
Taxi Driver Raised the Alarm
According to Cheshire Police, the next thing the victim remembered was being awoken by a local taxi driver, who found him lying on the ground covered in blood. The taxi driver took him to hospital for urgent treatment.
The man sustained serious head and facial injuries, but police have confirmed these are not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Constable Caitlin Bebbington of Warrington CID is leading the investigation.
“A number of enquiries are currently underway to fully understand what occurred here,” said DC Bebbington.
“We are also looking to hear from anyone who may be in possession of any CCTV, dashcam or Ring doorbell footage that may aid our enquiries.”
Cheshire Police are urging anyone with information about the assault to come forward.
