Want Your Taxi Faster? Veezu Will Now Let You Pay £5 Extra

Veezu has announced a new “priority service” feature for its passengers, set to launch on Monday 22 September 2025. The new option will allow customers booking through the Veezu app to choose a “get there quicker” service — at an additional cost.

How the Priority Service Works

Passengers who select the priority option will pay an extra £5 charge, which is added directly on top of the normal fare. This extra fee will then be included in the driver’s earnings, though it will still be subject to Veezu’s standard Weekly Access Fee deductions.

According to Veezu, these bookings will be given top priority within the dispatch system, ensuring they are allocated to drivers more quickly than standard jobs.

What It Means for Drivers

Drivers will see these jobs listed in the system as vehicle type R1, making them easy to identify when bidding. Veezu has also reminded its “Driver-Partners” to provide an excellent experience for priority passengers, who are paying a premium for faster service.

Industry Context

The move mirrors similar premium booking options seen across the wider private hire and ride-hailing industry, where faster pick-up times and priority dispatch are monetised. While the £5 surcharge may be attractive to drivers, it remains to be seen how popular the option will be among passengers — and whether it raises questions about fairness for those unable or unwilling to pay extra.
