Uber has begun rolling out a new discounted charging offer for its electric vehicle drivers, giving them access to reduced-rate kWh prices across the Be.EV charging network. The update was issued directly to drivers through an official in-app message from Uber.
According to the communication sent to EV drivers, the offer includes fixed prices for 12 months, no subscription cost, and access to Be.EV’s entire network of fast, rapid and ultra-rapid chargers.
What Uber EV drivers will pay
As outlined in Uber’s official driver announcement:
- 49p/kWh at peak times
- 39p/kWh off-peak (7pm–7am)
- £0 subscription fee (normally £4.99/month) to use Be.EV’s full charging network
- Fixed rates for 12 months
- Exclusive to active Uber EV drivers

The message explains that drivers will be able to charge at one unified rate across all Be.EV charger types — including rapid and ultra-rapid — making the deal particularly attractive for high-mileage PHV drivers who need predictable running costs.
How drivers can sign up
Uber’s message states that drivers must:
- Complete the online sign-up form using their Uber-registered email address.
- Wait for login details — Be.EV will email access credentials and a temporary password within three working days.
- Download the Be.EV app and update their password to activate their discounted charging membership.
The instructions were issued directly within the official Uber driver app notice.

Why this matters for PHV and taxi drivers
The soaring cost of public EV charging has been a major concern for private hire drivers, especially those operating in busy cities where rapid chargers are essential. By locking in sub-40p off-peak rates, Uber and Be.EV are offering some of the cheapest nationwide rapid-charging prices currently available to drivers on a major ride-hail platform.
For EV-using taxi and private hire drivers, the savings could equate to hundreds of pounds per month, depending on mileage and charging habits.
DM News Commentary
This is one of Uber’s most competitive EV charging partnerships to date. For drivers considering switching to electric—or those already battling high charging costs—fixed-price access with no subscription fee could genuinely shift the economics of operating an EV. As more operators push electrification, deals like this will increasingly shape vehicle choice and viability across the taxi and private hire sector.
