Uber drivers from across the UK have been contacting Driver Matty after spotting Uber Share trips displaying extremely high mileage figures that clearly do not match the actual journeys.
One example sent into DM News shows an Uber Share trip priced at £71.95, with a stated duration of 1 hour 43 minutes, but displaying a completely unrealistic distance of 11,956.08 miles. In this particular case, the trip is based in Liverpool, starting in Huyton, yet the mapped route itself appears entirely local and normal.
Drivers in multiple regions are now reporting similar jobs appearing in the Uber app, all showing abnormally high mileage readings while pickup and drop-off locations remain relatively short UK journeys.

At the time of writing, Uber has not issued any official explanation. Based on the growing number of reports nationwide, it strongly suggests a widespread system or display glitch, rather than an isolated regional issue.
DM News Commentary
The fact that this issue is being reported nationwide, not just in one city, raises bigger questions for drivers.
Mileage data is not just cosmetic — it affects:

- How drivers judge whether a job is worth taking
- Vehicle running cost calculations
- Mileage records for tax and accounting
- Confidence in whether fares are being calculated correctly
If Uber’s backend fare calculation is correct and this is purely a visual error, drivers may still receive the right pay. However, without clear communication, drivers are left relying on screenshots and guesswork — which isn’t good enough when income and compliance are on the line.
Drivers should continue screenshotting any trips that show extreme or impossible mileage and carefully check their final earnings. If incorrect mileage is being stored internally, it could cause problems later when reconciling accounts or dealing with HMRC.
DM News will keep tracking reports from drivers around the UK and will update this story if Uber provides clarification or a fix.
