A 56-year-old Uber driver has been left stunned after receiving a private hire insurance quote of £17,524.08 per year equating to a staggering £1,686.26 per month.
The driver, who has been on the road for 39 years, holds a clean licence with no penalty points. However, despite his extensive experience, the high premium appears to have been influenced by two non-fault claims recorded on his account bare in mind he only drives a car and not a large minibus or chauffeur vehicle.
His car is a Ford Kuga and lives in the North West of England.
Speaking about the shockingly high quote, the driver admitted he is now shopping around for a better deal, as such an expense would make it impossible for him to continue working as an Uber driver. If he’s unable to secure a more reasonable policy, he may be forced to give up his job altogether.
