West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a taxi driver was assaulted in broad daylight in Alum Rock, Birmingham.
The incident occurred around 5.30pm on Saturday, 5 July, at the junction of Bridge Road and Anthony Road. Emergency services were called to the scene after reports of a disturbance involving two vehicles.
According to police, the taxi driver was punched by a man from a second car — believed to be a white Toyota Avensis — which then fled the scene. The injured driver was taken to hospital, though thankfully, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police say they are still searching for the suspect and the vehicle involved, and no arrests have been made at this time.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said:
“We’re investigating after a taxi driver was injured in Alum Rock following an altercation involving two men on Saturday evening.
Officers were alerted by ambulance colleagues to the incident at just after 5.30pm. We understand that the taxi driver was punched by a man from a white Toyota Avensis, which then left the scene.
Investigations are continuing to establish the exact circumstances and to trace the second driver.”
