From next week, Uber drivers waiting in the PHV queuing area at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) will see a handy new feature: Trip Radar will now surface all Uber airport trip requests—except for Rematch trips.
What Drivers Need to Know
- Stay at the front to maintain priority
If multiple drivers tap ‘Match’ on the same trip offer, the driver closest to the head of the queue will secure the ride. Tapping faster doesn’t give you an advantage. - Offers come to you—wherever you are in the queue
You’ll be able to browse available trips by tapping ‘Requests’—even if you’re farther back—and can tap ‘Match’ on multiple trips at the same time. - More drivers see your offers
Each request initially appears to drivers at the front of the queue, but if none match, it will cascade outwards to a wider pool. - More time to decide
The system gives you greater flexibility—since you may see several offers simultaneously, you won’t get matched with every tap. You also won’t be moved back simply for declining or ignoring offers. - Rematch and exclusive offers still apply
If eligible, you may still get exclusive or Rematch offers—these remain one-to-one and guarantee a match when you tap ‘Accept’. These may include offers from outside the airport and are not shared with other drivers.
What About Other UK Airports?
At present, this update is confirmed for Liverpool John Lennon Airport only. An email has been sent to Uber [drivers/partners], but it’s not clear whether the rollout will be extended to other UK airports. We’ll keep an eye on any announcements.
Why This Matters
This change aims to cut down wait times for both drivers and passengers—a win-win in a busy airport environment. By offering multiple ride options and reducing queue bottlenecks, Uber is streamlining the experience for everyone on the road.
