Nottinghamshire Police have released an image of a man they want to trace following an assault on a taxi driver in Nottingham.
In a public appeal shared on social media, police say the incident happened while the driver was carrying out his work. The man is alleged to have punched the front windscreen of the taxi, causing it to shatter. After the driver got out of the vehicle, he was then struck twice to the shoulder area.

Officers have released a still image as part of their investigation and are asking anyone who recognises the man, or who has information about what happened, to contact police. The image has been shared specifically to help identify the individual involved.
The driver was not reported to have life-threatening injuries, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

DM News Commentary
Sadly, this is another reminder of the reality many taxi and private hire drivers face while working, particularly in busy city centres and late-night environments. Drivers are often alone, dealing with unpredictable situations, and incidents like this show how quickly things can escalate.
At DM News, we regularly hear from drivers who rely on dashcams and CCTV not just for insurance purposes, but for their own personal safety. Without footage and public appeals like this one, identifying offenders would be far more difficult.
No driver should be subjected to violence for simply doing their job. Strong police action, public support, and continued awareness are essential to improving safety across the taxi and private hire trade.
