What’s Changing at Terminal 3?

1. More Space, Better Flow
Terminal 3 will be expanded significantly by repurposing sections of Terminal 1, which is due to close once Terminal 2’s upgrades are complete. This will ease congestion and create a smoother flow for travellers.

2. New Security Hall
A state-of-the-art security area will be installed, complete with advanced screening technology. This upgrade promises faster, more efficient checks and less hassle at the gates.

3. Stylish Departure Lounge
Passengers can look forward to a redesigned departure lounge with 40% more seating, enhanced comfort, and better views. A new 500-seat bar overlooking the airfield will be a standout feature, perfect for relaxing before a flight.

4. Improved Dining and Retail
The airport is expanding its commercial offering with 200 new dining seats and more retail space. Expect new shops, eateries, and modern design throughout the terminal.

5. Honeycomb Lighting & Manchester Bee Motif
In a nod to the city’s heritage, the revamped terminal will feature stylish honeycomb lighting, inspired by Manchester’s iconic worker bee symbol, creating a modern yet locally rooted atmosphere.

Terminal 1 to Be Phased Out

As part of Manchester Airport’s shift to a streamlined two-terminal operation, Terminal 1 will be decommissioned in the coming years. Key facilities from Terminal 1 will be integrated into Terminal 3 to support its expansion and improve overall service.

When Will It Be Ready?

Work on the new Terminal 3 has already begun. The full transformation is expected to be completed by 2026, in time to welcome a new era of air travel in Manchester.
