A lifelong Liverpool fan has been left devastated after his beloved Mercedes minibus was destroyed outside Anfield during celebrations marking Liverpool’s dramatic league victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Tony, a familiar face among the Anfield faithful, has parked his minibus in the same spot for years while attending matches. After decades of loyal support, including following Liverpool across Europe and as far as Qatar, Tony could not have imagined that celebrating Liverpool’s historic triumph would end with his minibus being written off.
During the jubilant scenes outside the stadium, excited fans climbed onto the roof of Tony’s minibus to get a better view of the celebrations. The weight of the crowd caused the roof to cave in, resulting in catastrophic damage and the vehicle being declared a total loss.
Tony now faces an insurance excess of £800, along with the likelihood of increased premiums. The incident has left him not only without his trusted minibus, but also facing significant financial hardship.
Driver Matty, a local driver, highlighted Tony’s story in a video posted to TikTok and Instagram. The videos quickly went viral, attracting thousands of views and an outpouring of sympathy from the football community.
After being inundated with messages asking how people could help, Driver Matty launched a GoFundMe page to support Tony. All donations go directly to Tony’s bank account, helping him towards covering his insurance excess or a deposit for a replacement minibus.
“Tony has been attending games since 1967, when his dad first took him to Anfield,” said Driver Matty. “He’s followed the Reds through thick and thin, home and away. After everything he’s given to Liverpool, it’s only right we try and help him out now.”
Supporters are rallying behind Tony, showing that the spirit of Liverpool extends beyond the pitch — especially when one of their own needs help.
