Passengers using Liverpool John Lennon Airport (JLA) will soon face higher drop-off charges as the airport announces an increase in fees from £5 to £6 for up to 10 minutes, effective 5th March 2025.

The change comes as part of the airport’s ongoing review of parking and traffic management, with officials stating that the increase will help manage congestion and improve facilities. However, the decision has sparked criticism from travellers and local residents, who argue that costs are already too high for short stays.
A spokesperson for Liverpool Airport commented: “The rise in drop-off charges reflects the increasing costs of maintaining and improving airport infrastructure. We continue to offer alternative parking options, including free drop-off facilities in our designated areas.”
Currently, Liverpool Airport provides a free drop-off zone at a designated car park, where passengers can be dropped off without charge for up to 40 minutes. However, this requires a short walk or shuttle ride to the terminal, which some travellers find inconvenient.
The price hike places Liverpool among the UK’s most expensive airports for drop-off charges, following similar increases at other major airports. Many frequent flyers and taxi drivers have expressed frustration, calling for more affordable short-stay parking solutions.
Despite the backlash, the airport insists that the move is necessary to ensure smoother traffic flow and maintain airport services.
Passengers planning to travel through Liverpool John Lennon Airport after 5th March are advised to check parking options in advance to avoid unexpected costs.
