Dundee Taxi Driver Attacked and Hospitalised After Late-Night Carjacking

A 57-year-old Dundee taxi driver has been hospitalised after a brutal attack and robbery by two male passengers in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to PHTM, Dawn Hart, who drives for City Cabs, picked up two men believed to be in their twenties in Dundee city centre just after midnight. When the passengers asked her to stop on Forfar Road near Caird Park, one of them reportedly attempted to strangle her from behind.

Dawn managed to break free and escape from the vehicle, but the men allegedly continued their assault on her in the street before stealing her taxi and fleeing the scene.

A source close to the investigation told PHTM that Dawn “is thankfully OK but obviously badly shaken.” She sustained multiple kicks to the head, a broken shoulder, and a leg injury requiring a brace, leaving her unable to work for approximately 12 weeks.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that emergency services attended and that the driver was treated in hospital, adding:

“Officers are following a positive line of inquiry.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help support Dawn during her recovery, covering lost earnings and medical expenses.
