Drivers on the M1 were left stunned after spotting a couple walking along the motorway with suitcases, desperately trying to reach the airport in time for their flight.
A couple abandoned their taxi and walked along the hard shoulder of a motorway after becoming trapped in a three-mile traffic jam while trying to catch a holiday flight.
Dean Louca, 37, and his wife Gina, 39, were travelling to London Luton Airport for their flight to Greece when their taxi became stuck in standstill traffic.

Motorway Danger to Make a Plane
The incident, which quickly spread on social media, shows just how far travellers will go when faced with delays. Walking on the motorway is illegal and extremely dangerous, with the couple risking their lives as cars and lorries sped past.
National Highways and police regularly warn that motorways should only ever be accessed by vehicles or, in emergencies, by drivers using the hard shoulder. Pedestrians are strictly prohibited.
Safety Concerns Raised
So far, no official statement has been released by police, but the footage has sparked fresh discussion about road safety and travel stress.
Many online commenters pointed out that the couple could have caused a major accident, while others sympathised, saying the panic of missing a flight can make people act irrationally.
Travel Advice for Passengers
Experts recommend leaving plenty of time for airport transfers, particularly during peak travel periods. Unexpected traffic, roadworks, or delays at drop-off zones can all add to the stress of getting to the terminal.
Private hire taxis, airport transfers and public transport remain the safest and most reliable way of reaching airports—without putting lives at risk.
