Bird Strike Forces EasyJet Flight to Return to Liverpool Airport

An EasyJet flight from Liverpool to Turkey was forced to turn back shortly after take-off following a bird strike, causing delays for holidaymakers.

The aircraft departed Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 16:15 BST, 2 July 2025, and was bound for Bodrum, Turkey. It performed what the airline described as a “routine landing” after the incident.

A spokesperson for EasyJet confirmed: “The pilot returned to Liverpool in line with our procedures and performed a routine landing where it will be inspected by engineers.”

The airline reassured passengers that safety remains its top concern. “The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet’s highest priority,” the spokesperson added.

Passengers were delayed while the aircraft underwent checks, and EasyJet is working to accommodate affected travellers.
