Osprey Charging has launched Osprey Go, an Autocharge service designed to let eligible registered electric vehicles start a charging session automatically when they are plugged into an Osprey charger.
The service means drivers with compatible vehicles will not need to tap a payment card or manually begin the session through the Osprey app once their vehicle has been registered for Osprey Go.
To become eligible for setup, drivers must first use the Osprey app to complete charging sessions at two different Osprey locations. Compatible vehicles can then be offered Osprey Go setup through the app.

Osprey said the feature is available to all Osprey app users with compatible vehicles. Autocharge works by identifying the registered vehicle through the charging network’s systems when it connects to a charger.
The company said an Osprey Go session will receive the best available Osprey price for that charger location and time when the session begins. The launch also sits alongside Osprey’s expansion of dynamic pricing, which is intended to offer lower prices at less busy times.
Osprey said Osprey Go was developed using its in-house Osprey Iris software platform. The company describes itself as the largest UK charging network to offer Autocharge technology following the launch.
The operator is also exploring a future Plug & Charge service. Unlike Autocharge, Osprey said Plug & Charge uses vehicle-based authentication.
