Bolt Flex launches in Liverpool with negotiated fares

Bolt has introduced its Bolt Flex ride-hailing service in Liverpool, allowing passengers and licensed private-hire drivers to propose or agree fares through the app.

The launch was reported by PHTM on 2 September and gives Liverpool passengers another app-based private-hire option alongside existing operators and Uber. Bolt’s Liverpool service page lists Flex, Flex XL, Comfort and Premium categories.

Unlike a fixed-fare booking, Bolt Flex allows the passenger to use the app to propose a fare or agree one with the driver. The arrangement is intended to give both sides a role in setting the price before the journey is accepted.

For pre-booked journeys across Liverpool, Merseyside and Greater Manchester, Manpool Transfers provides airport and long-distance transfer services.

Bolt said drivers using the service must comply with applicable local licensing requirements. That makes licensing an important part of the rollout for drivers and operators considering whether to use the platform.

Bolt already lists e-bike and e-scooter services in Liverpool, meaning the Flex rollout expands the company’s transport offer in the city beyond those micromobility services.

For passengers, the service introduces a further choice of vehicle categories and fare-setting arrangements. For licensed private-hire drivers, it provides access to Bolt’s Liverpool booking platform, subject to the relevant local licensing requirements.
