A 26-year-old woman has died after being struck by a private hire taxi on Aigburth Road in Liverpool.
The collision happened shortly before 5.40pm on Wednesday 2 September, between Fulwood Road and Larkfield Road. The vehicle involved was a white Toyota Voxy private hire taxi.
Merseyside Police said the pedestrian was taken to hospital after the collision but later died. The 41-year-old taxi driver stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving while under the influence of drugs.
The driver remained in custody when the police appeal was published on Thursday morning. The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation and no conviction has been reported.
