A new electric SUV from Chinese automotive group Chery is preparing to enter the UK market, with LEPAS confirming full British specifications for its forthcoming L6 EV.
The LEPAS L6 will become the brand’s first fully electric SUV sold in Britain and is scheduled to open for orders in early Q4 2026.
UK customers will be offered two versions, called Essence and Elevate, although pricing has not yet been announced.
Both models use a 65kWh lithium iron phosphate, or LFP, battery with an official WLTP driving range of up to 279 miles.
Power comes from a single front-mounted electric motor producing 160kW, equivalent to 217PS, and 275Nm of torque.
LEPAS quotes a 0-62mph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 111mph.
Rapid charging is rated at up to 120kW, with the manufacturer claiming the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes.
A 3.3kW vehicle-to-load function is also fitted as standard, allowing electricity stored in the car’s battery to power compatible external equipment.

The L6 measures 4,570mm long and has a 2,700mm wheelbase, placing it firmly in the increasingly competitive mid-sized electric SUV market.
Boot capacity is quoted at 410 litres with the rear seats in use, increasing to 1,334 litres when they are folded. There is also 99 litres of additional storage beneath the boot floor.
Standard equipment on both versions includes 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, rear air vents, a heated steering wheel and heated windscreen.
The cabin features a 13.2-inch central touchscreen alongside an 8.88-inch digital driver’s display, while wireless smartphone charging and multiple USB connections are also included.
LEPAS says 22 driver-assistance functions will be fitted as standard, together with front and rear parking sensors and a 540-degree camera system.
The higher-specification Elevate version will add equipment including heated and ventilated front seats and additional parking technology.
One particularly interesting part of the package for high-mileage drivers is the warranty.
LEPAS says the L6 EV will receive a seven-year or 100,000-mile vehicle warranty, while the high-voltage battery will be covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.
The company is also providing RAC roadside assistance for the first 12 months, which can renew for up to seven years when scheduled servicing is completed through an authorised LEPAS service centre.
For taxi and private hire drivers, the 279-mile official range, relatively conventional SUV dimensions and long warranty could make the L6 worth watching, although its suitability will ultimately depend heavily on UK pricing and real-world efficiency.
The charging speed is also relatively modest compared with some newer 800-volt electric vehicles, but a claimed 22-minute 30-80% charging time should still make longer journeys practical where a suitable rapid charger is available.
The L6 is built on LEPAS’s LEX electric platform and has undergone chassis development specifically for European roads.
LEPAS is part of Chery International, whose rapid expansion into Britain has already brought the Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo brands to UK buyers.
The L6 therefore adds yet another Chinese-built electric SUV to an increasingly crowded market, with the final UK price likely to determine whether its range, equipment and unusually long warranty are enough to make it a serious alternative to established rivals.
