Hyundai and Genesis Plan 41 New or Updated Cars for Europe by 2030

Hyundai and its premium Genesis brand are preparing a major European product offensive, with 41 new or substantially refreshed vehicles planned for the region by 2030.

The expansion forms part of a wider global strategy announced by Hyundai Motor Company at its 2026 CEO Investor Day on Wednesday, 26 August.

Globally, Hyundai says more than 100 new-model launches and product refreshes are planned by 2030 as the manufacturer attempts to increase annual sales to 5.55 million vehicles.

Electrification will play a major role in that growth, with Hyundai targeting electrified vehicles – including battery-electric and hybrid models – to account for 60% of its global sales mix by the end of the decade.

Europe is set to receive a particularly large number of new products as Hyundai attempts to strengthen its position against established European manufacturers and rapidly expanding Chinese brands.

According to details from the company’s Investor Day reported by Autocar, Hyundai and Genesis are preparing 41 new or substantially refreshed vehicles for Europe by 2030.

The programme is expected to include a small electric SUV developed specifically for European buyers, a new mid-sized electric SUV and additional commercial vehicles.

Hyundai is also targeting a substantial increase in European electric-car sales. The manufacturer wants annual EV sales in the region to rise to more than 420,000 vehicles by 2030, compared with around 116,000 during 2025.

The strategy does not mean Hyundai is abandoning combustion engines. Instead, the manufacturer is widening its range of powertrains as different markets move towards electrification at different speeds.

Hyundai says its hybrid range will expand significantly, while extended-range electric vehicles are also being developed for markets where customers want electric driving without relying entirely on charging infrastructure for longer journeys.

The company’s global product strategy includes more than 18 entries into new products or market segments, with seven new vehicles due to arrive within the next eight months alone.

One of the most important models for Europe is the IONIQ 3, Hyundai’s new compact electric car. DM News has already covered its UK launch separately, with reservations opening from £22,245.

The European expansion is particularly significant because competition in the electric-car market is intensifying rapidly.

Chinese manufacturers including BYD, Chery and others are increasing their presence in Britain and across Europe, putting additional pressure on established brands to offer more affordable electric vehicles across a wider range of market segments.

Hyundai already offers everything from compact electric cars to large SUVs and multi-seat vehicles, including the IONIQ 3, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, IONIQ 9 and STARIA Electric.

For professional drivers and fleets, the inclusion of additional commercial vehicles in Hyundai’s European roadmap could prove particularly interesting as businesses increasingly look for electric replacements for diesel vans and passenger-transport vehicles.

Not all 41 European models will necessarily be completely new vehicles. The figure includes both new models and significant updates to existing products, meaning buyers should not interpret it as 41 entirely new nameplates.

Nevertheless, the scale of the programme demonstrates how aggressively Hyundai intends to compete in Europe over the remainder of the decade, with electric vehicles, hybrids and new market segments all forming part of its expansion.
